Time for the Summer 2019 Streak!
Lace up your red, white & blue running shoes! The summer running streak starts on Memorial Day (May 27) and goes through the Fourth of July. That’s 39 days of running one mile a day (or more).
A streak challenge provides the perfect opportunity to launch your running ambitions, renew or refresh your running plans, or keep you going if you’re already running. If you’ve never participated in a run streak, be prepared for a life-changing experience! You may even fall in love with running, as I did back in the winter of 2017-2018, when I did my first streak.
To get the most out of your streak I encourage you to join an online group, like the Runner’s World Run Streak Facebook group, where you’ll find an encouraging and supportive group of runners who enjoy celebrating one another’s running adventures. Or search Facebook groups for “running” to explore hundreds (or thousands?) of other options.
Track Your Progress
One of my running friends requested a red, white and blue theme for this streak’s tracking sheet, so here you go! The stars are empty now, but download and print out the Summer Streak tracking sheet and watch it come to life as you fill in your daily mile(s).
If you prefer to wear your tracking sheet, download the Summer Streak Decal file and use a t-shirt service to have it printed on a shirt of your choice. If you have a Cricut machine, look for the file called Summer Streak 2019 (KMackey) in the Cricut design space. Other brand of die cutters, here’s the svg file. (Personal use, only, please. No commercial reproduction.)
To be successful in a streak you don’t have to run fast or set a personal speed record. Just run a mile every day at your own pace, in your own space. Then stand back and enjoy that feel-good feeling of accomplishing a pretty darn amazing goal!
