I'm a Streaker!
I'm officially a Streaker! A running streaker, that is. On January 1, 2018 I met the challenge to run at least 1 mile every day for 40 days. You can read more about it in my earlier article, "Runner's World 40 Days of Awesome!" Over the 40 days between Thanksgiving Day 2017 and New Year's Day 2018 I ran a total of 59 miles, including three 5k runs on my own. I ran indoors on the treadmill and outside in sunshine, rain, dark, and cold.
As I wrote in an earlier article, "Not Just SMART Goals, SoSMART Goals!" one of the keys to success in this challenge was the camaraderie of other streakers in the Facebook group. I was able to connect with new runners who are just like me, runners who regularly participate in marathons (and more), and everyone in between. Some people run indoors on treadmills while others put in their miles running in snow and ice in subzero temperatures. I haven't decided if I'm going to be one of those streakers who never stops running.
Every day of "The Streak" I decorated a "stick runner" on the official Runner's World 2017 shirt. Many fellow streakers have asked to see all the images of my shirt all in one place. So here they are! The first block is a gallery of just the shirt images. The images that follow are all my daily journal posts to the Facebook group (I blurred the names of other FB group members to respect their privacy.) 40 days = 40 images, so be prepared to scroll!
